Eye Make Up Tips

It can be a real challenge to make the eyes stand out. And like any good artist you will have to master the precise techniques of accurate brush work and careful colour blending. Almond shaped eyes are considered to be the most effective. So when making-up eyes, try with a mix of light and dark eye make up to define the necessary changes to give the eyes an almond appearance.

Eye Pencils

Whether they are being used to shade or define the eyes, lips or brows, pencils should glide on smoothly, without dragging the skin. If you have problems with application because they are too soft and crumbly, place them in the freezer for a few minutes to harden before applying. Similarly, if they are too hard and drag at the skin, try softening the point by gently running it over the back of the hand.

Eyebrow Pencils

To fill bare brows and enhance the overall shape, eyebrow pencils can be used. Choose a readied pencil in a shade closest to the natural colour of your eyebrows and fill any open spaces using short wiry strokes to simulate real hair. Defining the brows, avoid drawing on a heavy line as this will look false. Define over the brows in small feathered strokes or soften it by dusting with translucent powder or roll a cotton bud over the brows.

Applying Eyeshadow

Use eyeshadow, in striking tones, applied with a slight hand, can give the face an aura of
luminosity. Eyeshadow should always be applied smoothly, and can be used to change or enhance the shape of the eyes, to add simple definition or to make a strong impact, depending on your choice of colour. It is also useful to hide the blueness many of us have on the skin on our eyelids.

Eyeliner Application

Eyeliner Application requires a steady hand. If you find it difficult to apply liner with precision, try etching it on using small feathered stokes and then blend with a fine-tipped brush or cotton bud. For easing, place a mirror on a flat surface and then apply looking down into it.

Eyebrows

Things to think about before shaping your brows:

  • The facial distance from hairline and chin.
  • The distance between both eyes.
  • The hair color and color of eyebrows.
  • The facial distance from hairline to chin.
  • The length of the forehead from temple to temple.
  • The thickness of the brows

How To Apply Eye

With the advent of modern mascaras there is no need to pump the wand in and out of its container before applying such as it can actually cause overload and result in clogged lashes. Apply only enough product on the wand to coat the lashes, so any excess should be removed with a tissue. You should roll the wand through the lashes to increase the curl effect; always work on upper lashes from underneath to avoid over loading and keep on the lower lashes to a minimum, especially if you have a tendency to rub your eyes.

Look fab at forty plus

Fab at One of the most difficult aspects facing women over 40 is how to dress for the many changes that occur around this age. As many of you already know - in our early to mid forties both our bodies and our lifestyles are in transition.

Physiologically our bodies are changing and many of us will suffer from water retention, thinning hair or duller skin. Lifestyle-wise we may be on the brink of empty nest syndrome, we may be newly divorced or beginning new jobs.

If you are a woman over 40, you can look just as sexy and vital as your younger counterparts; you just have to learn how to flatter your body without doing a major overhaul and without looking like the proverbial mutton dressed as lamb. So, are your pleated trousers giving your age away? Maybe you’re stuck in an 80’s rut? Has your hairstyle barely changed in the past few years? If so… Change!

The key to dealing with the changes and to modernizing your look is to get in tune with what is in . Handbags and shoes are the quickest way to update your look. Look around - people-watch, browse through magazines, tune into the channel and get a feel for what’s ‘in’. You are not necessarily aiming to be ‘trendy’ but to develop your own timeless signature . If you need inspiration, look at the mature television and movie actresses you admire, pick out what you like and emulate their look.

The worst possible thing you can do is dress years younger than you are – all it does is make you look even older and slightly bizarre. So, even if you have great legs, no miniskirts! Avoid baggy, formless clothes and chose pieces that give you shape. When shopping, don’t think you can wear the same colours you did when you were in your twenties, especially not next to your face. Experiment with colours in good lighting to find what flatters your -something skin.

and tricks

Stand-up or turn-up collars are great for disguising a wrinkly neck. They cover the area and bring focus to the face. It helps too to always wear a bit of white close to your face. Soft pastel-like colours such as pale pink, white or ice blue also bring light to the face and thus detract from the neck.

If you have lost your waistline along the way, wear jackets and pieces that will give you shape.

Take a look at yourself in the mirror, decide what your best features are and emphasize them. If you have nice hands, manicure them, good cleavage - show it off (in moderation) and so on.

If age spots begin to appear on your hands or face – fight back. Many products are available that will lighten and fade liver spots and at sites like Skin Lightening Advice you’ll find the best skin whitening articles, guidance and information.

Unfortunately many -something ladies suffer from thinning hair. If this sounds familiar, then explain to your hairdresser what is going on and discuss with her a fresh new that will help you get the appearance of thicker hair. Ask her on products too, there are many on today’s market that are specifically formulated to ‘fatten’ thinning and/or flyaway hair. You can look fab at ; it just takes a little attention to detail and a few tweaks.
