Surfing Heritage Foundation’s Oral History Committee: “A Call To Yarns”
If you happen to’ve been studying any of the Surfing Examiner’s previous articles, you might be, by now, aware of the Browsing Heritage Foundation.
The Surfing Heritage Foundation, situated in San Clemente, California, homes the largest assortment of surfboards and browsing artifacts within the world.
And now they need your stories, a “Name to Yarns” so to speak.
Their Oral Historical past Committee, a collection of volunteer historians, is dedicated to recording the recollections of our elders and has interviewed more than one hundred women and men over the past 4 years.

Last 12 months, the Oral History Committee ran down a few Palos Verdes surfers, Tulie Clark and Fenton Scholes, who reminisced concerning the founding of the Palos Verdes Surfing Membership in the 1930s.
“After we surfed, everyone who went for the wave acquired it,” Scholes shared. “There wasn’t any ‘This is my wave’ stuff. Everybody rode together, four or 5 guys on a wave. If some guy was subsequent to you, you pulled his board in. You didn’t pull him out.”
