Interview with Dr. Thomas K. Stonecipher, The Everett Clinic

INTERVIEWER: Why would somebody need lumbar spine ?

DR. STONECIPHER: Well fortunately most people with back problems don’t. In lower back problems, lumbar spine problems, probably less than five percent, maybe even less than that, ultimately need a surgical remedy. That’s part of my drive to help push the evolution of the spine center institute that we’ve talked about. Most people with spine problems are best treated with non-surgical care, but sometimes that doesn’t work. Sometimes there’s so much pressure on the spinal nerve because of an arthritic condition, a tumor, a fracture, or a deformity, that pain and functional impairment become tremendous barriers to a quality level of life. In those cases, can sometimes have a wonderful outcome.

When choosing a doctor, you’re also choosing a medical facility, and that medical facility’s systems, values and culture. You’re choosing their history and reputation – not a decision to be taken lightly. The recognizes this, and wants you to be sure that you find the right fit for you and your health care.

The strives to provide care that is always centered around respecting patients, and doing what’s right for them no matter what. This care philosophy has allowed the to attract the best physicians from around the country, earning both local and national recognition.
