Three Of The Most Famous Basketball Teams Of All Time
In many places in the world, the sport of basketball has slowly but surely increased in popularity. Nowhere is it more popular, though, than in the United States. For several decades, the National Basketball Association has been the hallmark league for fans of round ball, and teams such as the 1960s Boston Celtics and the 1990s Chicago Bulls delighted audiences with their dominance and skill. Numerous franchises elicit the same feelings today, and the dominant play of teams of days gone by are emulated by a number of America’s best basketball teams today.
One of the best basketball teams in America, and one that is recognized worldwide, is the Los Angeles Lakers. Winners of five NBA Championships in the last ten years, the Lakers consistently place a winning product on the court. They are able to do so because of deep pockets with which to lure talent, and many of the exceptional players on the Lakers’ roster are big men. Couple players such as Kobe Bryant with the recently departed genius of Phil Jackson, and you have a recipe for success.
Another team with a storied history that continues to succeed today is the Boston Celtics. Today’s Celtics roster is replete with players who bring a great deal of experience to the table. Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Kevin Garnett have racked up quite a few minutes in their careers, and they put their backgrounds to good use for the Celtics. Boston is joined by another star-studded team, the Miami Heat, in the NBA’s Eastern Conference. The Heat recently signed superstars LeBron James and Chris Bosh to provide established luminary Dwyane Wade with the means to capture an NBA title. In 2011, the Heat came up just short of this goal, losing only to the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals.
The Chicago Bulls are on the rise, and their roster full of young players has already established itself as one of the best in the league. Their relative inexperience does not show through, and Derrick Rose proved this by snagging the NBA MVP award in 2011. Joakim Noah and Carlos Boozer join Rose to form a core that will continue to improve. When speaking of America’s best basketball teams, the Dallas Mavericks cannot be left off the list. They are, after all, the defending NBA champions, and any team featuring the deadly jump shot of the super-talented Dirk Nowitzki is bound to achieve. This scenario is sure to endure for several more years.
The National Basketball Association is all about the stars, of course, and that is the way they like it. It is the teams, however, that entire communities get behind. These teams spotlight some rosters that have seen years of playing time, and others present players who are young and eager to win. Whatever the scenario, they are America’s best basketball teams.
