Getting A Cool Toy For The Kids
Christmas shopping, the two words certain to strike fear into any parent, can be made a lot less painful by getting in there now and picking up some bargains whilst the struggling retail market is tempting you with deals. If you fancy making all your friends and colleagues sick with envy, and getting all your present shopping done before November, here’s a few gadgets for the kids (or bigger kids) that you can flex your credit card on.
As always, robots will dominate this year’s toy polls, however the next must-have thing from the USA looks to be available at under ten dollars. In a radical shift from their usual incarnations, the rise of the robots is now taking shape in the form of cuddly robot hamsters. At least this is one pet that can stand on its own if next door’s cat manages to burgle its way into the cage.
If so far you haven’t needed to apply for credit card help, then brace yourself for the Walker Exo-Suit. Pure James Bond villain, this will cost over $21,000 but stands over five feet tall with joystick powered legs and manipulator arms, guaranteed to scramble the army or National Guard if your offspring is wearing it whilst having a tantrum. Perhaps not such a great idea, but with servo-powered lifter arms no longer will they have an excuse about being too tired to clean their room.
Toys of yesteryear are making a welcome return. Scalextric are still going strong and selling basic racing sets for a very reasonable price, and remember Big Track - it’s back in a Junior model that will also bleep and whirr its way around the house to programmed commands. You can never go wrong with Star Wars, and although Lucas Arts certainly wouldn’t approve of using Jedi mind control as a method of how to improve credit rating, there are enough lightsabres and accessories to practice with before you try out your powers on the bank manager.
