Exercises That Will Make You Jump Higher

Jumping higher is essential in basketball, so why not work out those muscles. This could be the key to having a successful career in basketball, because jumping is almost required in every aspect. You are going to need to be able to hook shots, and block shots or passes. Essentially if you aren’t a good jumper, then you might not be very valuable in basketball.

So what makes you jump higher? It’s very easy to understand the concept, work out those muscles and you will jump higher. Problem is, these are complex muscles and require proper dieting and unique exercises to increase them. The muscles used in jumping can be made significantly bigger and stronger by exercising them properly. The muscles that are going to need to be strengthened are the calf muscles, the dorsi flexors, and generally all of your leg muscles.

The dorsi flexors can be exercised by using exercises that put pressure on the balls of your feet. Here are some things that you do to work the dorsi flexors: walk around on the balls of your feet, and try to step up and down on stairs like this.

Calf muscles can be worked out by running on a vertical incline or doing calf raises.

The muscles of the leg can be exercised well by a very popular sprinting exercise called suicide. Most coaches run this drill with their players in order to strengthen their jumping power. For this drill, start from the baseline of a track and run 15 feet. Then you need to stoop down, touch the ground with your fingers. Complete it by running to the baseline. Repeat this process, adding 15 feet each run, till you get to 90.

Another thing that is recommended is checking out a program that will teach you how to jump higher. A great program that does this is Jump Manual for vertical basketball. You can also take a second and check out the Jump manual review.
